“Ki te kotahi o te kākaho, ka whati; ki te kāpuia, e kore e whati.”

Kingi Tūkāroto Matutaera Pōtatatau Te Wherowhero

If a reed stands alone, it can be broken; if it is in a group, it cannot.

When we stand alone we are vulnerable, but together we are unbreakable.

For the youth, by the youth.

Let's Talk Consent’s origin story lies in a bold act of advocacy for Aotearoa’s youth.

We believe in the power of rangatahi. Through our mahi, we continue to use our voice to support all those affected by sexual violence and its rippling impacts.

We especially recognise our disproportionately impacted rainbow, indigenous and disabled whānau <3.

Let's Talk Consent.

In 2022, co-founder Genna Hawkins-Boulton collected over 300 testimonies from students across Aotearoa regarding experiences of sexual harm, in support of her compulsory consent education campaign.

In 2023, she is platforming the kaupapa further by highlighting the severity of these experiences, in direct address to our nation’s changemakers, policy advisors and central government ministries.

This report focuses on themes of  youth perspectives on consent education, the impact of gender norms and negative institutional responses to sexual harm disclosures.

It will be delivered in collaboration with YWCA Auckland, HELP Auckland, and Women’s Refuge.
